Belleville on the Pitch

Organised by Collectif Belleville, the tournament brought together young players from the neighbourhood at Place Alphonse Allais in Paris.

Between matches, team selections and moments on the sidelines, the series looks at the rituals that surround the game as much as the competition itself: choosing captains, putting on bibs, waiting for a turn to play, watching other teams and negotiating positions on the pitch.

Against the bright red structure of the neighbourhood court, the tournament becomes a portrait of football as it is experienced at that age: serious and playful at once, shaped by friendship, rivalry and the desire to play.
