Sound & Light
Technical training workshop
with Belleville Citoyenne
Belleville Citoyenne is a Paris-based nonprofit working at the intersection of arts, digital inclusion and professional development, particularly with young people from underserved neighbourhoods.
As part of its professional development programmes, Belleville Citoyenne introduces young people to the technical professions behind live events.
Through hands-on training in sound, lighting and stage production, participants learn alongside industry professionals, gaining practical skills and a first insight into careers that often remain invisible to the public.
A note of support
After 16 years of community work in Belleville, the organisation has faced a severe financial crisis, despite reducing its activities and operating costs in an effort to keep going. The situation ultimately led Belleville Citoyenne to announce the end of its activities in 2026.
Its closure also raises broader questions about the financial fragility of grassroots organisations and the challenges they face in sustaining long-term work within their communities.
All my support goes to the team, volunteers and community who have built, sustained and brought Belleville Citoyenne to life over the years.
